Orange Bowl

Are you a sports freak and heading towards a vacation or stay in the US? Then there is one place that you must visit despite distance and time constraints as this place deserves your visit as way of paying homage to it for having played a significant role in the nation’s sports history. This place is none other than the world renowned Orange Bowl located at the center of the city of Miami in Florida.

As you enter the stadium to catch a match, your will be overwhelmed by its size and when you trace down a little in the history, you will know about the place it has made for itself in the realm of sports of the city, the state in turn the nation as a whole.

Orange Bowl came into existence in the year 1937 as the venue for holding the Hurricanes football and ever since then, there was absolutely no looking back, with its field having held some of the greatest of matches of the nation when the champions traversed its area. The stadium has the capacity of holding thousands of spectators amounting to more than eighty thousand and the field is made of natural grass of a little different type than usually found elsewhere and is called the Prescription Athletic Turf. The beauty and the capacity of the stadium made the Miami Dolphins play here for a long time till the 1995 until the establishment of the Dolphin Stadium. But it was only in this Orange Bowl that Miami Dolphins played their only season being completely undefeated. This is also the stadium where the team of the University of Miami went on to become the champion for three times at the national collegiate football championships.

The most significant feature of the Orange bowl is its ability to be molded into the types of stadiums and fields required to hold various types of events, sports as well as concerts and festivals. Hence, from American football to boxing to soccer as well as world known events of both national and international standards can be held easily in this stadium. The best part is that, the capacity of the stadium can also be altered according to the events and sports being held. In the recent past, the stadium had been the proud venue for the various tournaments such as the Gold Cup, Soccer Summer Olympics of 1996, Marlboro Cup as well as Libertadores Cup.

The location of the Orange Bowl has also gone onto increase the popularity of the stadium as that it can be easily reached from any part of the city. While waiting for a match you can also dine at the various restaurants around the stadium or shop some of the best of items at the innumerable malls. And if you have arrived at Miami only to catch a match at the stadium, you can easily get an accommodation at one of the hotels located very close to Orange Bowl.
