Durga Temple

Among the several countries in the world United States of America has a formidable position. In different aspects it has the best of facilities. The country has become an alluring destinations for higher educations, service sector and other aspects and therefore people from different other countries are moving over to USA to settle. India is almost leading the list in this aspect. Many Indians with good academic profile; moving off to USA for further studies or better job opportunities. As a result there are good numbers of NRI's or Non Residential Indians in USA. The NRI's have several associations and organization and the main objective of such is to nurture the Indian culture in a distanced land. Due to such huge number of NRI's in USA there are several temples, gurudwaras and mosques in USA. Among these temples the Durga Temple is an acclaimed one.

The Durga Temple is situated in the state of Virginia. It is considered to be the first Durga temple in the state and in USA. The main image that is worshiped here is that of Goddesses Durga and apart from this there are images of Lord Shiva, Narayan, Lord Krishna, and of many other gods and goddesses. If you want to visit the temple you need to reach there within 7am to 12pm in the day time and 4pm to 9pm in the evening. The time often changes according to the temples authority.

The temple premise is one of the most soothing places. You feel like spending sufficient times in sitting in the temple. The temple is divided into different sections; there is a separate section where the images of gods and goddesses are kept and separate sections for the visitors to sit and pray. The temple has its own board of trustees, it also comprises of different committees; these are several administrative bodies of the temple. The temple takes up different ceremonies and activities. This particular temple maintains the culture and heritage of India in the United States of America.
